Meet our designers

We believe that fresh perspectives pave the way for change, and that creativity thrives on diversity, curiosity, openness, and collaboration.

The passion for Scandinavian design has nothing to do with where you are born but has everything to do with what you love. That is why our design collective includes more than 60 talented designers from 19 countries around the world – all with a shared passion for sustainable ideas and New Scandinavian Design. Meet a few of them below.

Studio Nooi was founded by Giulia Pesce and Ruggero Bastita who met while studying and working as designers in Italy and Denmark.
Nooi derives from the Italian word “noi”, meaning “us” – the idea being that design is never an individual act but rather a collaborative process, involving designers, companies, users, artisans and technicians. Nooi’s designs are always the result of good cooperation between people and influenced by society, art, nature and cultural heritage, and the designers are closely involved at every stage of the project development.

The renowned design duo Glismand & Rüdiger come from Denmark – an origin that is clearly expressed in their design language. For them, Scandinavian design is not a label, but a commitment in their work and a concept they like to interpret in new and modern ways. Inspired by Scandinavian nature and traditional materials, they design furniture that is based on simplicity, excellent craftsmanship and honest materials.

“We have a shared passion for Scandinavian design and natural materials. Sustainability is at the core of all our new designs. Right from the initial sketch to the final design, because the most important thing for us is to create beautiful designs that can survive different trends and generations.”

My designs are characterized through fine structures, certain transparencies and subtle details adapted in pure shapes. My designs aim towards an aesthetic synergy of material and form. I believe that a decorative element should walk hand in hand with a useful purpose. For me, function and aesthetic are a unified whole.

Meike Harde

We’re a design studio based in Berlin exploring all aspects of furniture, lighting and interior design. For us, design is an inseparable part of our lives, it’s an expression of our personality and a creative reflection of the society that surrounds us. We see opportunities in everything around us, and it’s the everyday experiences that inspires us the most.
Our goal is to create simple yet original designs that solve a complex problem in an innovative and functional way. It’s essential that techniques, materials and aesthetics come together, and we believe great design should challenge the conventional and mundane.

BÖTTCHER & KAYSER

I am a passionate and dedicated designer. I simply love my job. I love working with design objects that supports our senses. The designs we surround ourselves with everyday, must be able to support our everyday lives. A good design help’s you on a daily basis, without you ever thinking about it.

We believe our products are sober-looking, formally balanced and attractive. We love to lavish attention on details as we believe that the quality of products is often judged by the quality of their details. We try to make products with clean lines, yet warm and attractive for the public.

When we design, we simply want to create seductive products we’d love to have in our own homes. We have special concern for architecture and crafts which are elements that inspire us beyond the trends of the moment.

My style is characterized by keeping the focus on the detail and "edge" that separates my designs from the crowd. One of my biggest influences is to register how much diversity there is among people and try to meet the very different needs that it creates.

I've always been fascinated by the craftsmanship and the interaction between craftsman and designer. Good design is what gives meaning and value to the people who use it.

The development of all our projects aims to achieve simple solutions, both technical and formal, privileging usability and legibility of the object. Through this process, we define our ideas reinterpreting traditional or innovative materials to make gentle life companions.

Inspirations are everywhere. What matters is to be receptive. We try to be influenced by a great variety of stimulus... always searching for inspirations, during our working time or free time, always keeping our eyes open. This is our state of mind.

Great design is, when looking at an object, the first thought is: it could only be so ...and after observing him longer: yes, there is no way to improve it, it’s perfect!

Berlin is often our inspiration. We like it as it is: metropolitan, creative and direct. But as well travelling around, in other countries, seeing things that strike your eyes is where creative ideas are being born… Sometimes the best ideas come in the most unexpected situations!

First of all we are inspired by the materiality of things. That’s why we work very early on materials and prototypes in scale 1:1.

At the beginning of a design project usually there is a conceptual idea that we are trying to realize as soon as possible in models and prototypes.

But sometimes some of our design projects have a strong conceptual character that allows them to appear in different ways depending from their materiality.

Hertel & Klarhoefer

The Italian design studio, Ferriani Sbolgi, is driven by experiments and a cooperative approach to the design process where both designers agree on a direction and outline before transforming into new creative designs. Their design language is based on sleek silhouettes and clean stripped-down lines and details, and their products seek to communicate a certain emotion with the viewer and user.

Each new design is seen as an opportunity for experimentation, and they ascribe fundamental importance to finding materials and ideas that will add value to their final design. They seek the new, the bold and the different, but always with timeless taste and quality craft in mind. A striking balance achieved in an effortless manner shown in their beautiful work.

We are Nikolaj and Kasper. We are Says Who Design. We like to tell stories through our products. Stories that add character and relevance to the user experience. We love simple, clever yet masculine design. Rawness expressed through refined details. We always strive to add personality to the product. An edge or feature that defines its use, style or statement.

Good design is useful, characteristic and tells a story. It leaves a lasting impression that enriches our lives in ways we never thought of before. When design is at its best, it enriches our everyday lives and experiences.
