Does your furniture come pre-assembled or will I have to assemble it myself?

When ordering sofas, sofa beds, armchairs, daybeds, footstools and sofa poufs, we'll deliver your design to the door, including carrying, assembling and disposing of the packaging, if you'd like us to. When ordering any other kind of furniture, we'll deliver to your door to the first designated room.

Why is there 'fluff' on my sofa?

Lint, also known as pilling, is completely normal for a sofa. Pilling is the term for the small balls of fabric that form on the surface of a fabric as a result of friction and which give the fabric a slightly furry appearance. There will always be some natural pilling at the beginning until the excess fibres have gone. Pilling is evaluated on a scale of 1-5, indicating the risk of pilling or loose fibres. 5 is best and our upholsteries are always at least 3.

The fastest and cheapest way to remove pilling is by using a small electric razor designed for this purpose. A pilling comb is also effective and can help just as much as a razor.

Where can I find the dimensions of a specific piece of furniture?

All our measurements are stated on the specific piece of furniture under 'Specifications and dimensions'. Here you will also find material, the dimensions of the furniture itself and the dimensions of the package. You can also find more instructions here, such as care and assembly instructions.

Are there chemicals in your furniture?

Yes and no. We never use dangerous or harmful chemicals in our furniture, and every single piece of furniture undergoes in-depth quality checks and tests to ensure top quality. Our fabrics are certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, our leather types are traceable, our wood is FSC®-certified and we work with other certifications like Ecolabel.

The marble on my new furniture doesn't look like it did in the store?

Marble is a natural material, where large blocks are cut and divided into smaller pieces that are later transformed into your furniture. No two pieces of marble are alike, so every piece of marble furniture will be 100% unique. This also explains why the marble on your new piece of furniture can look different from the marble finish you saw in the store. It is not a defect, it is just a characteristic of a natural, living material such as marble.

Enjoy the fact that your marble furniture is completely unique.

How do I extend the life of my furniture?

At Bolia, we believe that authentic materials create furniture that lasts. We spend a long time designing, drawing and producing our furniture, and this can be felt by the quality. To give your new furniture the best conditions for a long and beautiful life, we have developed various care guides, care videos, and we have dedicated many pages on Bolia.com on the correct care of our different materials.

Correct care that extends the life of your furniture depends on which piece of furniture you have purchased.

Pressure marks have occurred on my velour sofa during transportation?

Press marks may occur on the velour, where the pile has been squashed flat either during transportation or in use. This is quite normal for velour and should not be considered as a defect. To help restore the original surface, you can take a clean, neutral-coloured piece of fabric that is warm and moist and lay it on top of the velour for an hour. The moisture helps to lift the pile again. You can also use a soft brush with distilled water, but be careful not to use too much water. It only needs to be damp. Do not rub the velour. Light stroking is often enough to restore the original surface again.

A few pressure marks have appeared on my sofa after transportation?

Pressure marks can arise from either transport or use. This is quite normal and should not be considered a defect. As a rule, pressure marks only need a little time to lift again, as the foam can also cause pressure. Pressure marks can be massaged lightly, but in most cases the pile will lift again within a short time. About 2-3 weeks. Feel free to stroke any creases with your hands. Most creases can be smoothed out after use with light strokes across the surface.

My sofa has faded over time?

Unfortunately, if the colour of your sofa has faded over time, you cannot do anything to recreate the colour. However, you can avoid your sofa fading further or fading to begin with. Therefore, we always recommend that you don't place your sofa in direct sunlight or against a radiator or similar hot objects, as heat will affect the fabric. You should also move your sofa and cushions around so that you distribute the light fall evenly. This will help the colour to stay nicer and fresher over a longer period of time.

The best trick is to draw your curtains during the day when you’re away from home.

How do I remove stains from my sofa?

To give your sofa the best conditions, we always recommend that you start by impregnating your sofa with the right care product. We've developed a range of care products that can be purchased in all our Bolia stores and online at Bolia.com. Our care products also include our foam cleaner, which effectively removes stains on all fabrics and can also be used on carpets.

If the foam cleaner doesn't help, then visit us in store with pictures of the stain, information about the fabric and the character of the stain, and we'll do our best to help you.

How often and how should I care for my furniture?

How often and how you care for your furniture depends on the material, fabric or cover it is in. We always recommend that you treat your new furniture with a care product before you start using it – or immediately after, if you didn't manage to buy care products with it. All our care products are available online and in our stores.

As a rule of thumb, we recommend that you treat your design with a care product 3-4 times a year.

We've developed a comprehensive guide to sofa care right here, and you can also read about how to care for wood, marble, laminate, leather or fabric.

We encourage regular care, so that you can give your furniture the best conditions for a long and beautiful life. A good tip is to pay extra attention to the areas of your sofa you use most often, such as where you rest your head. A little extra care and love may be necessary in these areas.
