Our designers

We work closely with designers from all over the world – from emerging new talent to large, prestigious design studios. And just like the changing Scandinavian seasons, they are not afraid of change, but all share a common passion for natural materials, sustainable solutions and for new creative perspectives on Scandinavian design.

Nature, colours, raw materials and tactility are transformed into beautiful designs, all tailor-made and perfected by hand, designed to appeal to all your senses and invite you to touch, feel and fall in love.

The renowned design duo Glismand & Rüdiger come from Denmark – an origin that is clearly expressed in their design language. For them, Scandinavian design is not a label, but a commitment in their work and a concept they like to interpret in new and modern ways. Inspired by Scandinavian nature and traditional materials, they design furniture that is based on simplicity, excellent craftsmanship and honest materials.

“We have a shared passion for Scandinavian design and natural materials. Sustainability is at the core of all our new designs. Right from the initial sketch to the final design, because the most important thing for us is to create beautiful designs that can survive different trends and generations.”

The German design duo's goal is to create simple and intuitive products - something that isn't over-complicated, yet is still beautiful. They strive to design functional products that are simple and straightforward, yet poetic.

"For us, good design is when it feels like it's never been any different. Something that makes sense when you look at it, or something that gives you an intense feeling of pleasure."

My style is characterized by keeping the focus on the detail and "edge" that separates my designs from the crowd. One of my biggest influences is to register how much diversity there is among people and try to meet the very different needs that it creates.

I've always been fascinated by the craftsmanship and the interaction between craftsman and designer. Good design is what gives meaning and value to the people who use it.

Michael H. Nielsen

My designs are characterized through fine structures, certain transparencies and subtle details adapted in pure shapes. My designs aim towards an aesthetic synergy of material and form. I believe that a decorative element should walk hand in hand with a useful purpose. For me, function and aesthetic are a unified whole.

We are Nikolaj and Kasper. We are Says Who Design. We like to tell stories through our products. Stories that add character and relevance to the user experience. We love simple, clever yet masculine design. Rawness expressed through refined details. We always strive to add personality to the product. An edge or feature that defines its use, style or statement.

Good design is useful, characteristic and tells a story. It leaves a lasting impression that enriches our lives in ways we never thought of before. When design is at its best, it enriches our everyday lives and experiences.

Says Who

We’re a design studio based in Berlin exploring all aspects of furniture, lighting and interior design. For us, design is an inseparable part of our lives, it’s an expression of our personality and a creative reflection of the society that surrounds us. We see opportunities in everything around us, and it’s the everyday experiences that inspires us the most.
Our goal is to create simple yet original designs that solve a complex problem in an innovative and functional way. It’s essential that techniques, materials and aesthetics come together, and we believe great design should challenge the conventional and mundane.

BÖTTCHER & KAYSER

I am a passionate and dedicated designer. I simply love my job. I love working with design objects that supports our senses. The designs we surround ourselves with everyday, must be able to support our everyday lives. A good design help’s you on a daily basis, without you ever thinking about it.

Berlin is often our inspiration. We like it as it is: metropolitan, creative and direct. But as well travelling around, in other countries, seeing things that strike your eyes is where creative ideas are being born… Sometimes the best ideas come in the most unexpected situations!

First of all we are inspired by the materiality of things. That’s why we work very early on materials and prototypes in scale 1:1.

At the beginning of a design project usually there is a conceptual idea that we are trying to realize as soon as possible in models and prototypes.

But sometimes some of our design projects have a strong conceptual character that allows them to appear in different ways depending from their materiality.

Hertel & Klarhoefer

Our ideas for furniture design come from a big “box” hidden away in the back of our minds. A box full of fragments of design, shapes, materials, feelings and functions. All the things furniture design is made of. Ideas from dreams, pictures that we have seen or something that people have said or told.

We store all these inspirations, mix them up and put them on paper. Some end up as new designs, others are thrown back in the box for later use.

OOOJA

The most important thing for this design duo is to design durable products. They believe that if you use the right materials for the different parts and components, and create an appealing, beautiful design, the owner will love the furniture forever.

"We like to incorporate the views of others – both in terms of the design itself and the technical challenges. Asking questions is a very important part of the process. We do it all the time. We always think carefully about our ideas. From the initial thought to the final product."
